“The River” is a design originally designed exclusively for the November box of the Black Needle Society. I’m happy to share this design with everyone now! The pattern was structurally based on traditional Scottish samplers,
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This sampler is 131 crosses wide, and 223 crosses high. Stitched over two threads on 32-count linen (or 16-count Aida) it would measure approximately 8 1/4” by 14” (29 by 35.5 cm).
This design has a total of 9559 crosses. On average, you can stitch approximately 1800 crosses with an 8-yard (7.3m) skein of floss. When working with two strands on 32-count linen, you will require about 5.5 skeins of floss. The pattern has been split over four pages. After the 1st page, you will notice a 3-cross wide greyed-out border: this area is an overlap from the previous page, which will make it easier to find your way to the next page.
Although the pattern is monochrome, you can choose to stitch it in any way you see fit. I could see this stitched up in three different colours on beautiful coloured linen. I’ve been working for quite some time with their floss and can honestly say that they are my favourites to work with!
