Description

This listing is for a digital PDF file. Immediately after purchase you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). This pattern contains backstitch, has some lettering in eyelets, and is not pattern keeper compatible.

“Tjeerdje & Geertje” is a period reproduction of an antique sampler worked in the Dutch province of Friesland. It was started by Tjeerdje Kornelis in 1774, and finished by her daughter Geertje in 1801

The booklet tells a little bit about the makers and the area this sampler was stitched in.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

This design measures 349 crosses in width and 314 in height. Please see the graph below for size estimates. From the 2nd pattern page onwards, you will notice a grey area of three crosses high or wide: this indicates an overlap with previous pages and will help you to continue your work on the new page.

The linen on which Tjeerdje and Geertje worked their sampler comes close to Zweigart 770 (platinum) or a DMC equivalent, 3033. As you can see from the cover photo, the original sampler is somewhat stained in parts, so these colours are only suggestions.

The original sampler is finished with an open hem, which was stitched before the sampler was finished. As you can see on the cover, the open hem is extremely close to the edge of the stitching.
