This piece was inspired by a Pennsylvania Dutch chest of drawers from the Philadelphia Museum of Art. This chest was painted in cheerful colours in the typical Pennsylvania Dutch Fraktur art style and featured various scenes. One scene involved two unicorns on either side of a flower vase. The chart has space for personalisation – you can skip this and stitch the bottom border against the scene by cutting the empty box.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

This design is 93 crosses wide and 130 crosses high. It has a total of 5208 crosses. It features only full crosses and is suitable to be worked on any countable material. As this is a monochrome design, you can choose any colour (or colours) of your liking. When working with 2 pulled strands from a 6-strand skein, you require 4 skeins on 28-count, 3 for 32 and 36-count linens. When working with one strand, one skein should be enough on all counts of linen.

The booklet comes with a bonus alphabet chart so you can personalise the pattern with your own initials.

This design features only full crosses and has no specialty stitches. It is suitable to be worked on aida fabric. A Pattern Keeper compatible file is also available in your downloads.

ERRATA: 27 march 2023: I discovered a glitch in the border of the chart, where four of the little triangles had 2 extra crosses. This has been corrected in the latest pattern. All those who have already purchased the pattern can now download the updated chart in the downloads section.
