Description
This listing is for a digital PDF file. Immediately after purchase you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). Two Pattern Keeper compatible files are also included (one with the spelling “Traveler” and one with the spelling “Traveller”).
This design was a journey where, quite organically, a small pattern grew into my largest pattern to date. Whilst working on the pattern I was reminded of Lao Tzu’s words: “A good traveler has no fixed plans, and is not intent on arriving”. This seemed to be very true for this design process, and it is the reason it made its way onto the pattern.
Inspiration for the individual elements came from a Renaissance pattern book by Peter Quentel whose prints I translated into cross-stitch and adapted into the design you see here.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design has a total of about 82131 crosses, and measures 383 crosses wide and 479 high. It features only full crosses and no specialty stitches.
The graph below gives size- and floss estimates for a wide range of materials. Floss calculations are based on working with 2 strands on 28- to 36-count linen (14- to 16-count aida). Higher counts use a single strand. You are free to stitch with as many strands as you like.
Different regions use different spellings of the word “Traveler”, so a version with double L is also included. This also goes for the Pattern Keeper compatible files.
As this is a monochrome design, you are free to select any thread and linen of your liking. Evertote in Canada has a fantastic selection of linens and floss. For the linen, Porcelain is close to the artwork.
