A Royal Affair is a pattern designed especially for Black Sampler November 2025! The design is an amalgamation of traditional sampler styles from both the Netherlands and Scotland, using traditional alphabets, borders, and motifs, but coming together in a playful way.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design has a total of about 7931 crosses, and measures 145 crosses wide and 209 high. It features only full crosses and no specialty stitches.
The graph below gives size- and floss estimates for a wide range of materials. Floss calculations are based on working with 2 strands on 28- to 36-count linen (14- to 16-count aida). Higher counts use a single strand. You are free to stitch with as many strands as you like.
As this is a monochrome design, you are free to select any thread and linen of your liking. Evertote in Canada has a fantastic selection of linens and floss. For the linen, Porcelain is close to the artwork.
