Description

This listing is for a digital PDF file. Immediately after purchase you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). 1-page versions of the design are also included – the first three are pattern keeper compatible, part 4 has some backstitching but will still load into PK – but is officially not compatible.

Four Letters from the North is a collection of four of my earliest sampler design, now collected into one booklet for the first time, completely re-charted and revised to celebrate the 15th anniversary of Modern Folk Embroidery!

The samplers take their inspiration from stitching from northern Europe – from the embroideries of the Nordic countries (Norway and Sweden in particular), the Frisian and Groningen provinces of the Netherlands, as well as some influences from Northern Ireland.

Please note that the samplers on the artwork have been individually resized, and do not represent the final stitched size when hung together! Below you can find all the technical details for each individual chart (stitch count, floss and linen required etc).

TECHNICAL DETAILS

Please see the graph below for size and floss estimates for each of the four parts. Floss estimates are based on working with two pulled strands (14 – 18-count Aida or 28 – 36-count linen) or one strand (20-count Aida / 40-count linen and higher). It is, of course, up to you how many strands you want to use for your project. A three-cross greyed-out overlap area is found from the 2nd pattern page onwards to help you find your way.

As this is a monochrome design, you may stitch it with whatever colour (or colours) you wish.

If you want to approach the look of the cover, I recommend the following Roxy Floss Co. flosses and linens
(all exclusively available through www.evertote.ca in Canada). Falu Red is my absolute favourite red to work with, and would be perfect for this sampler. “Speculaas” is always a great linen to work with, and resembles the cover image. For a slightly lighter linen, I can highly recommend “Porcelain” too. As Roxy Floss Co. offers a wide range of colours, I recommend browsing the Evertote website to see what truly speaks to you.
