This listing is for a digital PDF file. After the 1st of July 2026 you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). 3 separate 1-page (pattern keeper compatible) versions of the design is also included (monochrome, negative monochrome and 2-colour version).
I’m happy to present to you the 2027 Modern Folk Embroidery Stitch-A-Long (SAL)! This year the theme is Orpheus, and inspiration was taken from some stunning damask weave napkins from the collection of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
The 2027 MFE SAL starts on the 1st of January 2027. You may work on this design for as long as you wish. This year, I have decided not to break the design into monthly parts, as I wanted to let all of you stitchers find your own path.
You can stitch “Song of Orpheus” in various ways. You can stitch it fully monochrome (as I originally designed it – see cover image), or with two colours of your choice (the chart reflects two colours – see various inspirational images on the 2nd page of this booklet). You can also stitch a negative version of this design (see the back of this booklet).
This design has a stitched surface measuring 211 crosses wide by 295 crosses high, and 33766 crosses in total (22158 crosses indicated by ν, 11608 crosses indicated by 6). The negative version (where you stitch the negative space and leave the stitched symbols to show the linen) has 29469 crosses total.
Please see the graphs on the next page for size and floss estimates. Floss estimates are based on working with two pulled strands (14 – 18-count Aida or 28 – 36-count linen) or one strand (20-count Aida / 40-count linen and higher). Of course, it’s up to you how many strands you want to use for your project.
A bonus alphabet sampler is included in this design, featuring traditional Grecian borders, an upper case Latin alphabet and an upper case Greek alphabet. You can use these letters to personalise your work.
