Description
This listing is for a digital PDF file. After the 1st of July 2026 you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). a separate 1-page (pattern keeper compatible) version of the design is also included in your downloads.
SPICES is an acronym used by some Quaker communities to list the six core values of Quakerism: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality and Stewardship (sometimes replaced by Service). This design lists the core values, complimenting them with newly designed medallion motifs. This monochrome Quaker-style sampler is a perfect Black Sampler November stitch.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
This design has a stitched surface measuring 243 crosses wide by 105 crosses high, and 7528 crosses. Please see the graph below for size and floss estimates. Floss estimates are based on working with two pulled strands (14 – 18-count Aida or 28 – 36-count linen) or one strand (20-count Aida / 40-count linen and higher). It is, of course, up to you how many strands you want to use for your project. You may use the alphabet on the left to personalise your stitching.
As this is a monochrome design, you may stitch it with whatever colour (or colours) you wish. If you want to approach the look of the cover, I recommend the following Roxy Floss Co. flosses and linens (all exclusively available through www.evertote.ca in Canada). “Charcoal” and “Chalkboard” are two gorgeous blacks that I often use, and would be perfect for a black Quaker-style sampler. “Arrowroot” would make for a perfect fabric to stitch on, as would “Porcelain”. As Roxy Floss Co. offers a wide range of colours, I recommend browsing the Evertote website to see what truly speaks to you.
