Description
This little heart-shaped cushion was released a couple of years ago for a very brief period of time, and I’m now releasing it again, with fresh artwork and a new graph. You can stitch this as a pincushion or perhaps a scissor fob – or hang it as a little ornament.
INSTRUCTIONS
The heart itself measures 47 by 47 crosses, and stitched on 32 count linen (or 16 count aida) it would measure approximately 3” x 3” (or 7.5 x 7.5 cm). It has a total of 988 crosses, so you will only need about half a skein of DMC to do your embroidery.
On a piece of linen, stitch the heart ornament, and, when finished, stitch in a running stitch the outline as seen on the pattern. Make sure you don’t apply too much tension on these, as you’ll be stitching through them when assembling the cushion. Cut around the running stitch (between 0.5 and 1 cm, depending on the count of your fabric) and fold the extra fabric to the back right on the running stitch.
Next, fold the design in half, with the right side facing out. From the bottom, take up 1 running stitch on either part of the fabric and sew them together. Do this until you have a small opening left through which you can fill your cushion. Once the cushion is sufficiently filled, sew the last few stitches.
You can now finish your cushion by stitching some chord around the heart. I started from the top, leaving enough chord to hang the cushion, and then worked my way around the running stitches, fastening the chord with tiny stitches.
After purchase, this design is available to you in both Letter (the Americas) and A4 (rest of the world) paper formats
