Description
Years ago I bought a book on Swiss traditional paper cutting. I recently came across it again, and it struck me how similar in style some of these paper cuttings were to the folkloristic embroidery from central Europe. One design, featuring a large pot of flowers by Johann-Jakob Hauswirth in particular inspired me to make this pattern on the last day of 2012.
On it you can see some heart motifs, a pot with several abstract flowers, several birds and a decorative border. You can change the year to the year you finish your design, and you can insert your own initials where I have include an M and an E. On the last page of this pattern booklet I have included an alphabet for you to use.
This pattern measures 127 crosses in height by 95 crosses in width. Stitched over 2 threads on 32 count linen it would measure approximately 8 by 6 inches (20 by 15cm).
