Tenderness of Heart is a design that was first published in the beginning years of Modern Folk Embroidery. For the 250th anniversary of Jane Austen’s birthday, I decided to go back to this design and give it a make-over. It resulted in me nearly completely changing every element from the original design, with the exception of the text.
The lines from this design were taken from the 1815 novel Emma.
This design has a total of 6036 crosses. Please see the chart below for size and floss estimates when worked on a variety of materials. Floss calculations are based on working with 2 strands of 6-stranded floss on 14 through 18 count Aida (28-36 count linen). Higher counts require only one strand. You are of course free to stitch with any amount you see fit.
