A Frisian Band Sampler – PDF Pattern

Early in 2022, Caroline from Evertote in Canada approached me with the idea of doing a holiday countdown Stitch-A-Long (SAL). It would be a collaboration between Roxy Floss Co (providing the linen and floss), Evertote (distributing and organising the SAL) and me (making the design).

Each day, folks would get one envelope containing a hand-dyed skein of floss and a little extra. As we could only produce a limited number of kits, quite a few folks couldn’t join in on the fun. But I’m excited to release the entire pattern for your enjoyment!

The pattern has been reproduced exactly as it was in the SAL kits, including all the symbols for the different days. You do not have to stick to this arrangement- you can stitch this design with just two colours! I encourage you to be creative, ignore the key, and select the colours that you like best. The key is giving the names of the flosses (some of which are available on www.evertote.ca), and there’s a DMC alternative.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

This sampler is 149 crosses wide and 110 crosses high. The cover art is a digital interpretation of the original Roxy Floss Co colours. Below you will find a graph with approximate sizes of your finished stitched piece on various materials.

I’ve been working for quite some time with their materials and can honestly say that they are my favourites to work with!

The pattern features only full crosses and does not have any specialty stitches. A pattern keeper compatible file is included in your downloads.
