A small red sampler celebrating spring, inspired by 19th-century alphabet samplers from northern Europe.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design has a total of 5774 crosses, 151 wide and high. It features only full crosses and no specialty stitches.
The graph below gives size- and floss estimates for a wide range of materials. Floss calculations are based on working with 2 strands on 28- to 36-count linen (14- to 16-count aida). Higher counts use a single strand. You are free to stitch with as many strands as you like.
You can personalise your sampler by adding your initials to the wreath, using the alphabet at the top of the sampler.
As this is a monochrome design, you are free to select any thread and linen of your liking. Evertote in Canada has a fantastic selection of linens and floss. For the linen, Porcelain is close to the artwork. Falu Red and Pippy are two of my favourite reds, and I highly recommend them. DMC 816 is a charming, lively red alternative.
