Two small birds on either side of a small tree are protected by a circular folklore design. This pattern is a mixture of traditional Quaker and Scandinavian embroidery motifs, which I thought went very well together. You could choose to stitch this up as a hoop-art project (as pictured on the cover art) or as a circular pincushion.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design measures 89 crosses in width and 89 in height, and has a total of 2,102 stitches. The graph below provides size and floss estimates (when working with one colour of floss). Floss estimates are based on working with two pulled strands (14 – 18-count Aida or 28 – 36-count linen) or one strand (20-count Aida / 40-count linen and higher). It is, of course, up to you how many strands you want to use for your project.
As this is a monochrome design, you may stitch it with whatever colour (or colours) you wish.
If you want to approach the look of the cover, I recommend the following Roxy Floss Co. flosses and linens (all exclusively available through www.evertote.ca in Canada). “Falu Red” is my favourite red colour, and it has a subtle variegation and is rich in colour. “Porcelain” or “Buttercup” are great options for linen.
