This design was created using elements from two pages of a 1579 pattern book published by Bernhard Jobin. As these pattern books have given me (and centuries of artisans) inspiration over the year, I wanted to give something back.
Caroline and John from Evertote.ca (and Off The Grid Needlearts on YouTube) are fundraising for The Brain Aneurysm Foundation USA. John will be running the NYC Marathon 2022 in November. He has set a goal of raising US $5000 for this charity. 50% of all sales of this pattern will be donated to John’s fundraising campaign.
If you want to directly support John without buying this pattern, or if you want to support the charity even further, please check out this link here.
This pattern will raise funds for John’s campaign for at least 3 months or until his goal is reached. After that, a new charity will be selected for which this pattern will be raising funds!
Please note that this is a design exclusively for this shop. It will not be sold anywhere else besides this website.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design only features full crosses and can be worked on either linen or Aida fabric. When worked precisely as per the pattern, the design measures 166 crosses in width and 216 crosses in height and has a total of 16920 crosses. When stitched on 32 count linen over two and working with two pulled strands of 6-stranded floss from an 8-yard hank, you’ll need a minimum of 10 hanks to complete this project. Below are size measurements for a variety of fabrics.
28ct linen / 14ct Aida: 12” x 15 1/2” (30 x 39.5cm)
32ct linen / 16ct Aida: 10 1/2” x 13 1/2” (26.5 x 34.5cm) 36ct linen / 18ct Aida: 9 3/8” x 12” (23.5 x 30.5cm) 40ct linen / 20ct Aida: 8 3/8” x 10 7/8” (21 x 27.5cm) 46ct linen: 7 1/4” x 9 3/8” (18.5 x 24cm)
The pattern is split over nine pages. After the 1st pattern page, you will notice a 3-cross high or wide greyed out area. This indicates an overlap from the previous page(s) and is there to help you continue your work on a new page.
You can choose to stitch this design with one colour as charted or use various colours. Although you are free to pick any colour and cloth combination, I can highly recommend my favourite new floss company, Leo&Roxy Floss Co in Canada, exclusively available through www.evertote.ca.
