Floral Heart Pillow Cover – PDF Pattern

height: 223 crosses
width: 223 crosses
total crosses: 20386
thread estimate: When stitched on 32 count linen (or 16 count Aida) this pattern requires approximately 10 to 12 skeins of Modern Folk Embroidery Wool, or, when stitched with 2 pulled strands of Retors du Nord 4 stranded cotton floss between 120 – 154 metres (6 to 8 skeins of floss).

A distinctly European pattern, inspired by embroidery from Eastern Europe, the Netherlands, and Scandinavia. Great as a pillow cover, or stitched as the centre of a unique wall hanging.

This is a rather eclectic pillow cover pattern, mixing styles from different European countries (Eastern Europe, The Netherlands and the Scandinavian region). I am really happy with its folklore aesthetic and its strict symmetry.

Although I designed it as a cross-stitch pillow cover, I’m very curious to see what this would look like on a large woven carpet. When stitching, I would recommend starting with the border. Simply rotate the pattern 45º when you finished each quarter. Finally add the central heart motif, which is found on this page. You could also personalise your pattern with the two alphabets and numbers provided at the very end of this pattern booklet.

This pattern measures 223 by 223 crosses – embroidered over two threads on 32 count linen it would measure approximately 14” by 14” (35.5 by 35.5 cm).
