This listing is for a digital PDF file. Immediately after purchase you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). A Pattern Keeper compatible version is also available.

This is the Midsommar Sampler – a Swedish inspired design celebrating Midsummer traditions. It has garlands, wreaths, hares running, and there’s a couple dancing around the maypole at the bottom of the design.

Nearly 10 years ago, I released the first iteration of this design. As the years passed, I felt it was time to revise this design to reflect some of the things I have learned over the years – both historically and as a designer. Some elements were discarded and entirely replaced (the large flower pot and the alphabets, for instance), and some other elements were updated with some graphic fine-tuning. I hope you will enjoy this updated version as much as I’ve enjoyed the creation of it (both times round!).

TECHNICAL DETAILS

This design will have approximately 16850 crosses, depending on your personalisation. It measures 237 crosses wide and 271 high. It features only full crosses and has no specialty stitches. From the second page of the pattern onwards, you will notice a greyed-out area of 3 crosses wide — this indicates an overlap with the previous page to make it easier for you to continue stitching.

The graph below gives size- and floss estimates for a wide range of materials. Floss calculations are based on working with 2 strands on 28- to 36-count linen (14- to 16-count aida). Higher counts use a single strand. You are free to stitch with as many strands as you like.

As this is a monochrome design, you are free to select any thread and linen of your liking. Evertote in Canada has a fantastic selection of linens and floss. For the linen, Porcelain is close to the artwork. Falu Red and Pippy are two of my favourite reds, and I highly recommend them. DMC 816 or DMC 3777 are charming, lively red alternatives.
