Description
A couple of days ago I purchased an antique sampler from 1824, featuring a wonderful little grape bush. Although that sampler isn’t a Quaker, I thought it might be a nice idea to design a medallion design featuring a grapevine with a little bird in the middle.
This design could be framed in an embroidery hoop, or stitched as a pincushion. I have stitched mine with Weeks Dye Works floss no. 1285, Twilight, with one pulled thread on 40 count hand-dyed linen.
The design measures 79 crosses in height and width, and has a total of 1845 crosses. Stitched over two threads on 32 count linen (or over one on 16 count Aida), it would measure approximately 5” x 5” (12.5 x 12.5cm). When worked with 2 pulled strands from an 8 yard skein (7.3 metres) you will require just over 2 skeins.
