The Best Company is a pattern inspired by a quote from the Jane Austen novel Persuasion. I designed this pattern to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the author’s birthday.
The design is a fictitious sampler worked by a 13-year-old Anne Elliot, the protagonist of Jane Austen’s 1818 novel Persuasion. It depicts Kellynch Hall (Anne’s ancestral home), and features an adapted quote from the novel.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design measures 215 crosses in width and 247 in height and has 11775 crosses. Please see the graph below for size- and floss estimates. Floss estimates are based on working with two pulled strands (14 – 18-count Aida or 28 – 36-count linen) or one strand (20-count Aida / 40-count linen and higher). It is, of course, up to you how many strands you want to use for your project. A three-cross greyed-out overlap area is found from the 2nd pattern page onwards to help you find your way.
As this is a monochrome pattern, you can stitch it in any colour or colours of your choice. I think it would look great with “Falu Red” floss stitched on “Biscuit,” “Buttercup” or “Speculaas” – all by Roxy Floss Co. (exclusively available through evertote.ca in Canada).
You can use the letters and numbers found on a bonus chart at the end of the booklet to personalise your pattern.
