DESCRIPTION

This listing is for a digital PDF file. Immediately after purchase you can download your file, in either Letter format (used mainly in Canada, the US, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, the Dominican Republic and the Philippines) or A4 (rest of the world). A Pattern Keeper compatible version is also available.

I’ve recently started going over some of my older charts and revisiting them. “The Flowering Heart” was one of my first original designs, published in 2011. I have redrawn the original chart and added a new border and corner motifs to this design. It also goes perfectly with another heart pattern from some years back, “The Nordic Heart”, which too has been revised to the same size (see the last page of this booklet).

This design was influenced by freehand wool embroidery from Sweden, where the heart motif is found on many linen objects. Branches with flowers sprout from a tiny heart at the centre of this design, in turn forming a bigger heart. You can personalise the design any way you see fit – simply use the lettering provided on the last pattern pages of this booklet. Two alphabets have been provided – I used the 2nd small alphabet for the cover art but worked every single cross as a cluster of 4 crosses (2×2), creating a letter double the size.

TECHNICAL DETAILS

This pattern is split over 6 pages. After the first page, you will notice a greyed-out area of 3 crosses high and/or wide. This indicates an overlap from the previous page and will help you continue your work.

This design measures 155 by 155 crosses. It has a total of 8771 crosses. The chart below indicates stitched size estimates and floss requirements for various linens and aida. Calculations of floss are based on working with two strands over two on 28- through to 36-count linen (or 2 strands over one on 14- through to 18-count aida). Higher counts are worked with one strand.

This pattern would look fantastic worked in Roxy Floss Co’s “Falu Red” – a lively and subtly variegated red perfect for a sampler like this. As an alternative, you could opt for DMC 3777. “Speculaas” or “Porcelain” linen by Roxy Floss Co would look great with this design. Linen and floss are available through Evertote in Canada.
