Some time ago Caroline from Evertote (and Off The Grid Needlearts on YouTube) commissioned me to design a cross-stitch pattern to go alongside a collection of beautiful fabrics. I then got to work with a big set of Leo&Roxy Yarn Co floss, and using both the fabric and these gorgeous colours, I designed The Moonshine Cabin.
Just imagine: outside birds are getting ready for winter, and from a grey sky the first snowflakes slowly fall, lit up by a crescent moon. Inside, you cozy up near a crackling fire, with a good book and a drink – perhaps even a glass of moonshine!
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
The Moonshine Cottage is 131 crosses wide and 133 crosses high. Stitched over two threads on 32 count linen (or 16 count aida) it would measure approximately 8 1/4” by 8 3/8” (20.8 by 21 cm). It would fit very nicely in a 9” embroidery hoop or a similar circular frame. Stitched with 2 pulled strands over 2 threads of linen, you only require one skein of Leo&Roxy Yarn Co floss per colour. Please refer to the key below for all of the required colours. The pattern has been split over 4 pages. After the 1st page you will notice a 3-cross wide greyed out border: this area is an overlap from the previous page, which will make it easier to find your way on the next page.
This pattern uses six different colours by Leo & Roxy, exclusively available through www.evertote.com in Canada. Below you find the colours needed, the amount of crosses required, and a DMC alternative.
GRUNGE – 1417 crosses, DMC 169
STEEL – 467 crosses, DMC 415
OYSTER – 1575 crosses, DMC 3033 or 06
HAYSTACK – 188 crosses, DMC 729
SAGE – 1692 crosses, DMC 3022
FALU RED – 60 crosses, DMC 3777
