For this little sampler, I took inspiration from French country samplers. I love the simplicity of the little red schoolhouse samplers stitched by many a needlecraft student.
TECHNICAL DETAILS:
This design has 1868 crosses and measures 96 crosses wide and 57 crosses high. It features only full crosses and has no specialty stitches. The graph below gives size- and floss estimates for a wide range of materials. Floss calculations are based on working with 2 strands on 28- to 36-count linen (14- to 16-count aida). Higher counts use a single strand. You are free to stitch with as many strands as you like.

Ben Drew –
This sampler caught my eye enough for me to try my hand at cross stitch. I used indigo blue thread and it looks great in that colour too. The pattern was easy to follow and the many curves that make up the rooster seemed to flow really well and made stitching this a joy.
