In 2020, I learned about woven coverlets through a post by Ellen Reid. I was inspired and started reading up about these beautiful woven textiles. It also resulted in a pattern, “The Zimmerman Coverlet”.
Sometime after, I purchased a fragment of a colourful 19th-century coverlet, now in my personal collection. It was with these coverlets in mind that I started designing “Under the Stars”.
Some 18 months now after the original release, Caroline from Evertote in Canada sent me a photo of the design beautifully stitched by Kathy Unruh, who took the design and turned it into a square. We both loved it so much that I am now happy to present this version of the original design.
TECHNICAL DETAILS
This design measures 281 crosses in width and height. Please see the table below for size and floss estimates. Each aida and linen count has estimates for the two colours in the last two columns.
The pattern is split over 12 pages. After the 1st pattern page, you will notice a 3-cross high or wide greyed-out area. This indicates an overlap from the previous page(s) and will help you continue your work on a new page.
This version of the pattern was designed with Roxy Floss Co Colours in mind, though you are free to substitute these for any floss of your choosing. The key gives the suggested shades, as seen in the cover art (and DMC alternatives). Roxy Floss Co is exclusively available through Evertote.
