Description

NOTE THAT THIS IS THE 2021 SAL

This is the digital release of my 2021 SAL (Stitch-A-Long) and includes the full chart. Depending on your location you can download the ‘letter’ format (North & South America mainly) or A4 (rest of the world).

The following hashtag is being used for this sampler: #MFESAL2021 – so make sure to share your stitching on Instagram with this hashtag, and follow the hashtag to check on other stitchers’ progress!

2020 has not been an easy year for most of us. But when things get tough in the world,  we can also witness some wonderful acts of kindness and giving. During the Covid pandemic, we’ve seen communities come together with people looking after one another. And when wildfires were blazing in various parts of the world, many people risked life-and-limb to save the vulnerable creatures that couldn’t help themselves.

And even if we aren’t always able to give physically, kindness is something that we can always share. I named the design “The Fruits of Plenty” as there is always plenty of kindness to go around.

This design features only full crosses, and it is suitable to be stitched on either linen or aida. I have designed it with two colours in mind, but you can use your own creativity when deciding on your colour palette!

What’s more, is that there are two versions to stitch this design: a monochrome, and a 2-colour version! The 2 colour version is how I designed the pattern – however, you can stitch it as a monochrome design. See below for technical details, materials needed, and how to stitch this design monochrome.

You will notice the two Ws on either side of the house: this is the place where you can put your initials. The chart will come with bonus alphabets, so if you have several first names or a double-barrelled last name, you will be able to fit them in with the alphabets provided.

Finally, the house found in the centre of this sampler will not be the only one supplied: you can select a range of different dwellings for your liking on the release date of that particular part of the SAL!

TECHNICAL DETAILS

You can stitch this sampler on any even-weave material – whether that is linen or Aida, the choice is yours! Stitched on 32 count linen (or 16 count Aida) it would measure approximately 24″ high and 15 ⅝” wide (60.5 x 40cm). Note that it might just fit on a standard 70x50cm piece of linen, but might not leave too much space to the sides. Below the amounts of crosses and the floss needed for the 2-colour and monochrome versions of this pattern:

The two-colour version (the main image stitched in two shades of blue) has a total of 47392 crosses (22026 crosses of the dark colour and 25366 of the lighter shade). Stitched with 2 pulled strands of DMC over 2 on 32 count linen it would require 12 skeins of the dark colour and 13 skeins of the lighter shade.

The monochrome version (see the 2nd image stitched in red) has a total of 34613 crosses. Stitched with 2 pulled strands of DMC over 2 on 32 count linen it would require 18 skeins of floss.

The pattern is charted in 2 colours – but if you want to stitch the monochrome version, simply skip stitching the lighter blue filler colour and stitch the empty space instead. This applies to the zig-zag border also. Use your own creativity to stitch the design as you see fit!
