Description
This pincushion uses stylistic elements found in Dutch embroidery (especially the blackwork found in Urk), and Norwegian and Swedish needlework, from the centres along the Hanseatic trade route. The centre of both front and back is an 8-leaf rose. This pincushion can be stitched as a traditional square pincushion, or as a biscornu. If you make it as a biscornu, you can place a small button on the centre cross, or stitch the front and back together exactly at this point. You can personalise it with the alphabet provided at the end of this pattern.
This pattern measures 73 crosses in both height and width. Stitched over two threads on 32 count linen, it would approximately measure 4 5/8” by 4 5/8” (11.5 by 11.5cm). Make sure to check out my shop to discover some high quality embroidery threads and fine linens.
