About 15 years ago, I started designing cross-stitch patterns on my computer. First, I used rather primitive tools, drawing my own graphs in some drawing software, but later, I discovered cross-stitch software for Mac. I learned more about making booklets and samplers, the history of stitching, and (I hope…) my design aesthetic.
Even though I can happily look back on those early designs, sometimes there are things in the booklets or the designs themselves that I wish I had done differently. I retooled two designs a couple of weeks ago, which I am happy to present to you again.
The first is The Midsommar Sampler, which received a giant overhaul and got a new title (as I initially used the English word Midsummer). In this design, I got rid of the Frisian style of letters – although very pretty, I didn’t feel they accurately represented Scandinavian-style samplers. The new design sees an entirely new alphabet, a slightly different layout, and has a lot of elements fine-tuned. A new text, complete with illustrations, was also created.
The second design is Home Sweet Home, which I made about 14 years ago. I still love the original design, but there were some things in the booklet that I wanted to change, so while I was doing that, I started playing with the design a bit. I’m really pleased with how this version is looking now.
If you have purchased these designs from my website in the past, then you will find the new versions in the download section in your My Account area. If you did purchase it from me but cannot find it there, please feel free to get in touch with your original order details so I can see what I can do for you!
Happy stitching!
Jacob
