These last few days I’ve been busy – I’ve finally found the time to finish three designs that I had been working on for some time, but never came round to actually finish.
The first one is a long “pin cushion” design, called The Peacock Tree. I’m taking the term pin cushion loosely, as it would be a big, but very fun nonetheless! Inspiration for this one came after we came back from India about two months ago. The Indian national bird is the peacock, and I wanted to do something with this magnificent bird. So after doing research I stumbled upon some beautiful Byzantine mosaics displaying peacocks, and one particular image of a peacock perched on a tree branch inspired me to make this design.
The 2nd design is called The Yuletide Cushion – a fun little cushion design that displays playful branches of flowering star flowers around a circular central design.
It was this central design that reminded me of the Pennsylvania Dutch Hex designs, and inspired me to create the third pattern, the Fraktur Hex Cushion. This is a big design, and features traditional Fraktur elements such as the little distelfink birds, tulips and other flowers, and four six petal rosette’s tucked into little trees of life.
I hope you like the new designs!
Happy stitching,
Jacob
