As I’m writing this blogpost, I’m sitting down with a well deserved cup of tea after just having finished stitching up my latest design, Knots & Flowers. Sometimes you love working on a pattern so much, that you just can’t seem to put it down… I stitched this one in just over three days, working pretty much non-stop on it, so eager was I to share it with you!
I stitched Knots & Flowers with Falu Red embroidery wool on 32 count natural linen by Sajou. (update: wool and Sajou linen are no longer available in my shop – if you want hand-dyed naturally dyed wool embroidery floss, I can recommend https://www.renaissancedyeing.com in France). You can download the pattern here, so you can start stitching right away!
The design was inspired by Swedish rectangular cushions, called åkdyna, which were used on coaches. Traditionally these cushions were about 100 by 50cm – whilst mine is smaller, it has a similar feel to it, and would be perfect for use in a modern interior. As I love this size, I’m planning to design a few more of exactly the same size in a similar style, reminiscent of wool embroidery from Skåne in Sweden.
