I’m writing this post from our apartment in Gurgaon, where I’m finding some cool underneath a fan. In in the background there’s the noises of birds, dogs, crickets, and the occasional scream of a pig or two. Gurgaon is just south of the city of Delhi, and, although it’s highly populated, there are still little pockets of nature peeping up everywhere.
We are here for a two week holiday, of which one has already flown past. We have seen many amazing things already, and haven’t even done any serious traveling / sightseeing yet. We’re here mainly visiting family & friends, but next week we will be making some more touristy trips to both old- and New Delhi.
A few days ago we visited the Chunnamal Haveli in the Chandni Chowk area of old Delhi. This grand house is now unfortunately starting to crumble, though some of its grandeur still remains. The haveli houses 128 rooms, of which most have fallen into decay. The grand room, boasting fantastic artefacts such as Belgian mirrors and wood paneling, still stands proud.
In the quiet hours of the day I have also managed to do a little stitching. At the end of this blogpost you can find a few pictures of my “Gracious Love” pattern that I’m currently working on. More news from India and this particular pattern soon!
