I’ve been redoing my work space a little bit today, as I decided that I wanted to have a little bit of a view whilst stitching. It will also provide with natural light, which will be great. To decorate the window I bought some new plants. Hopefully the cats won’t eat them! In the photos are several patterns in different stages of progress: Birds of a Feather (pincushion), Chapter House Tiles, Love Letters, and on the table you can also see the original Sarah Storrs Quaker sampler from 1795, which formed the inspiration for my version of it. Whilst I was editing the photos I looked out into the garden and suddenly was surprised to see an unexpected visitor: a beautiful hummingbird hawk-moth decided to pay us a visit! It apparently loves plants like verbena and lavender, so it came to the right place. Seeing this wonderful moth fly through the garden is nearly hypnotic: I hope it will pay us many more visits in the future!

Always fun to see the room where inspiration comes from! Lovely window, embroideries and beautiful moth! The horse sculpture is beautiful too,…is it old?
Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Val! I’m not sure how old the horse is, but my dad bought it for my mum many years ago. I have always loved it, and earlier this year I gave it a new home in our house!
Jacob, your blog is a joy to read. Don’t ever stop blogging or designing cross stitch charts. The world of needlework needs you. You make such a valuable and unique contribution.
Your work is so lovely. Thank you for what you do.
Thank you so much for your kind words Lynn! I definitely don’t plan on quitting designing any time soon, and lovely comments such as yours will surely keep me going! 😀
What wonderful inspiration to wake up to this morning! You have given me ideas on how to redo my own space which is a constant challenge. Your photos are always so peaceful. I appreciate that very much. And as for Lynn’s comment, she couldn’t have said it better, so all I will say is “ditto”. Thanks for everything Jacob.
Thank you Sue! So nice to hear!
