Today I’ve got a little tutorial and freebie pattern for you! Click here to download the design, so you can start stitching right away.

In the image above you can see the original design on the left. You can see that it could make for an interesting decoration on its own, but how would you go about it?
In the middle image you see a red diagonal mirror line and a greyed out area that we do not want. The area we want, we simply mirror. You can do this by heart, or, if it is easier, by drawing the design on some graph paper. You will find an empty page of graph paper in the design, that you can print off as many times as you like!
This mirroring technique comes in really handy, especially when completing half Quaker medallions. On many samplers, you will find beautiful borders of half medallions. By simply placing a horizontal or vertical mirror line, you can complete these easily yourself. Always remember that the stitches on the mirror line do not need to be stitched again!
Do you use this technique yourself, or would you like to try it? Or perhaps you have a different technique altogether – let me know in the comments below, as I’d love to hear from you!
