Description
An Irish Quaker Sampler is based on an antique alphabet sampler that I recently purchased from Ireland. The original design featured everything you see here except for the the bottom half, which was left blank on the original design, and which I have filled in with original Quaker medallion designs.
This chart measures 423 crosses in height and 197 crosses in width. Stitched on 32 count linen (or 16 count aida) it would measure approximately 67.5 by 31.5 cm. This chart has a total of 22557 crosses, and worked with 2 pulled strands of floss you would require between 89 and 115 metres of 6-stranded cotton floss.
It can be stitched monochrome, or you can use the colour suggestions that are found in my design. I have designed the pattern with the following DMC shades in mind:
DMC 3021 (4123 crosses, 16.5 to 20.5 metres of floss)
DMC 924 (2663 crosses, 10.5 to 13.5 metres of floss)
DMC 926 (1979 crosses, 8 to 10 metres of floss)
DMC 930 (3219 crosses, 12.5 to 16.5 metres of floss)
DMC 3768 (1413 crosses, 5.5 to 7 metres of floss)
DMC 413 (6189 crosses, 24.5 to 31.5 metres of floss)
DMC 420 (2971 crosses, 12 to 15 metres of floss)
Estimates are exactly that: depending on how you stitch, you might require more or less floss!
